For those of you that don’t know a lot about me personally – owner and manager of Bonogin Valley Horse Retreat Debbie Burgermeister. I thought this subject would be a great opportunity to share what drives my passion for horses and keeps the excitement in life, keeps the stress away and creates an amazing family unit.
I found this lovely poem by Tracy Meisenbach and it just touches my heart about why horses are so incredibly fantastic for girls growing up.
Parents this should without a doubt point you in the right direction with your horse decisions.
HORSE OWNERSHIP. HORSE TRAINING
Please note that this advice relies on you knowing how to lunge a horse properly and safely and with the correct hore gear and personal attire.
For some people they are dealing with a number of factors such as lack of horse training experience, naughty undisciplined horses or just having troubles with a particular thing with their horse.
There are so many aspects and reasons why we lunge a horse but the most important item I feel is if your horse has not had regular work and you want to ensure additional safety when riding (depending on the type of horse) OR you do not know the horse ALWAYS:
Does everyone know how to get on a horse properly?
You may think you do but is it 100% safe when you get on?
I see soooo many people get on their horse with a loose reign and if you go to do this on a young horse or a flighty energetic horse you are going to end up in a world of hurt. So many things can go wrong.
What do you think a horse would be saying when we go do silly things such as dressing them up in all sorts of weird things. A party hat for example!
I think horses have feelings, can express themselves very well and definitely talk to us about the situation at hand.
